Mike Stephenson - President
My journey to becoming president of Platinum Roofing has been both challenging and exciting. Growing up, I practically raised myself, which in retrospect, helped build my character and self-esteem, encouraged me to be a risk taker, taught me to be accountable and respect the value of hard work. I know that working hard helped me discover my talents, my own personal power, and myself.
I began my roofing career working in the summers while attending college. I quickly learned that I received great satisfaction in this work and worked my way up to a lead man in just a few years. Some of the bigger jobs I worked on were government jobs at Fort Ord in Monterey, the old Lockheed facility in Sunnyvale and Illison Air Force Base in Alaska.
At school, I was pursuing a degree in business management with a minor in law. But in 1976, with 3 years of college and about 6 years of good experience in the roofing trade, I decided to start my own roofing business. My father-in-law had to help me buy my first pick up truck. As my confidence and my business grew, I slowly added trucks until I had a fleet of 50 trucks. I was on my way.
Today, as president of Platinum Roofing, I have surrounded myself with good, honest, and talented people-hard workers and self-starters like myself. Together we have built an organization that is a smooth running, customer-centered business. Our vision is clear. We are united and passionate about what we do here. I think I speak for all of us when I say we love to come to work and contribute to the good of the whole.
Sergio Panetta - General Manager
When I first started with Platinum Roofing in 2000, it was an exciting challenge to work as the bookkeeper and accountant for a growing company. My superiors recognized my talent for office management, and I was asked to accept the responsibility of managing the busy office.
I have the ability to learn quickly, and coupled with my years of bookkeeping, accounting, office management, and personnel management skills in the office as well as out in the field, I was soon asked to take the position of General Manager.
I have always believed in taking the extra step or even the extra mile in customer relations to ensure a happy and satisfied customer. Likewise, I am known to take that extra step to help other employees out the best way I can. I strive to ensure a stable, harmonious, highly efficient and happy work environment for all. I thank my superiors as well as my co-workers I've met along the way for helping me to make everything I have achieved possible over the years. With great appreciation, thank you!
Ron Cossey - Sales Manager
As the sales manager for Platinum Roofing, I draw on more than 40 years of experience in the roofing industry. My extensive experience has provided me with the business skills and practical roofing knowledge I need to establish and maintain the excellent customer relationships of a rapidly growing regional roofing service provider. Platinum Roofing is a progressive, people-oriented company that places great emphasis on customer service and communication, and I am honored to be a part of the team.
Before joining the roofing industry I graduated from Camden High School in San Jose and served 3 years in the United States Army. In 1965, I joined Roofers Union Local 95 and officially became a roofer. I have worked as an apprentice, journeyman, foreman, and as a superintendent -- all jobs that have given me a complete knowledge of the roofing trade. I have also owned and operated my own roofing companies in Northern California specializing in built up roof systems and fluid-applied roofing. In the late 1970s, I felt the need to return home to the Bay Area to work in commercial roofing doing the part of the job that I like best -- sales.
When not on the job, I love to ride motorcycles and play with my seven grandchildren.
Adam Coronado - Account Executive
As a second-generation roofer, I feel as if I was born into the roofing industry. Beginning at age eight, I spent weekends with my father learning the craft of roofing. At 15, I was making summer money roofing, and at 18, I joined the crew at Platinum Roofing. Here, I eventually stopped "roofing" and began working within the production department scheduling inspections, pulling building permits, running materials and occasionally helping out in sales.
Three years later, despite my youth, Mike Stephenson promoted me to work in the sales department. I have thrived in this position at Platinum Roofing ever since. Thanks to my early experience, I have a wealth of knowledge regarding the different roofing systems. This is an invaluable asset when guiding clients in their roofing and maintenance strategies. Thanks to the great team at Platinum Roofing, I'm doing what I love and I truly feel that I am an asset to both the company and its clients.
Peter J. Harding - Account Executive
In 1983 I started my career in the construction industry on a roof tear off crew. I was seventeen. After a year of learning how the roof came off it was time for me to learn how to put the roof back on. So in 1984 I became a shingle apprentice for custom built residential dwellings. I realized early that to be an asset I had to become proficient in all the roofing systems of the time, which I did.
I was particularly excited about learning the commercial sector of the business, of which I learned all aspects including, built-up hot tar, cold process, acrylic spray, modified, and single-ply. I then worked my way up into the production and operations departments, and was soon introduced to the sales side of the industry. I found sales to be exhilarating.
Now, as an Account Executive for Platinum Roofing, I have never been happier. PRI and its continuing service and product training has not only helped me personally but has helped me give my customers the best service possible. I believe it has also enabled me to be the best father, husband and employee that I can possibly be.
Martin J. Villasenor - Sales/Project Manager
I am local to this area, having been born and raised in Mountain View, California. I have worked my up in this trade, beginning in 1978 as an apprentice, then journeyman, foreman and general foreman.
In 1992 I took on the job as field superintendent, then worked as a general superintendent and finally, I was asked to oversee all work as the operations manager. I loved working in the field and on the roof, but in 2001 I decided to broaden my horizons and use my extensive knowledge of roofing applications and systems to assist with sales, estimating and project management, and that's where I am today.
Throughout my life family has been very important to me; I have two children, Matthew and Vanessa, two beautiful grandchildren, Alexis and Jaxson, as well as two very special nieces, Jasmine and Heather. Since joining the Platinum Roofing team, I feel like I now have a second family to enjoy. I couldn't ask to work for a better group of people.
Fernando Coronado - Operations Manager
I come from a hardworking family, so hard work is in my genes. Of my 20 years experience in the roofing industry, 15 years have been with the Platinum Roofing management team.
My experience includes working with a wide variety of roofing systems (shingle, shake, tile, bur, fluid applied and single ply). The key to my success is my innate ability to organize and motivate the right people, enabling me to accomplish and manage many tasks at the same time. Personal goals and family are my motivation to give both heart and soul to my work.
Jose Ojeda - Superintendent
I have been a Platinum Roofing employee since it began, and today I bring the same passion and dedication to work with me that I brought on my first day of the job.
I was an eager new hire at Platinum Roofing, and was proud to be quickly promoted to being the foreman's right hand man. And as Platinum Roofing grew, so did their roster of employees, and I soon found myself in charge of my own group as the foreman. For nine years I took pride in leading my group of seven workers by example, each day stressing safety, work ethic and punctuality. Last year I was promoted again. Now, in my current position as superintendent, I work together with our clients, ensuring that they are absolutely satisfied from day one of the job all the way through clean-up. I personally strive to keep my employees motivated, and as always, I continue to emphasize the importance of safety.
I am grateful to Platinum Roofing Inc. not only for the chance to work, but also for the opportunity to advance my career. Because they put so much emphasis on integrity, responsibility, hard work, and goal setting, Platinum Roofing has helped me to better myself as an employee, and as a person.
Brandi Barnes - Production Manager
I have been a member of the Platinum Roofing team since I started as an administrative assistant in 1997. Today, I am mother of two, a community volunteer, a student working towards a B.A. in business management, and the production manager at Platinum Roofing. My rise to production manager and increased responsibilities are a direct result of my implemented improvements and organizational skills that have streamlined the day-to-day procedures of both the service and production departments. I am proud to call Platinum Roofing my second home. Here, I have the opportunity to view each challenge as part of my on-going education. It is satisfying to increase efficiency and serve clients better. I feel extremely fortunate to work with such fine people and for such a great company.
Aimee Alix - Contract Administrator
I joined the Platinum Roofing team in early 2005 with eight years experience in customer service and a background in the construction industry. Since becoming a part of Platinum Roofing, I have been able to utilize my skills to help further promote Platinum Roofing's professional reputation. Whether it's editing documents, scheduling appointments, planning company events or researching promotional items I love being able to help out the team. I know my contributions are appreciated and valuable.
In a sense, Platinum Roofing is a big family and that is what makes my job and this company unique; it is what motivates me to work my hardest. I have learned much about roofing and camaraderie since starting at Platinum and I strive to continue growing here to help make Platinum Roofing as successful as possible.
Veronica Garcia - Bookkeeping Assistant
I joined the Platinum Roofing team in November 2005 as the receptionist. The position required phone and customer service skills as well as the ability to be an active and attentive listener. I am effective at this position because I am able to draw on my bilingual skills and helpful nature to build lasting relationships with co-workers and clients alike. I am also able to help with additional operations of Platinum Roofing -- from assisting in the production and service departments to billings, payroll and accounting. The opportunity to be helpful, acquire new skills and additional responsibilities inspires me to do my best every day.
